Hi,

We have posted the latest installment for, "All That Glitters."  Let me say this, though, first.  Some of you, maybe most, will think that I have gone out on Column's limb and sawed it off because we posted excerpts from Karl Marx.  How many of you have read Karl Marx?  Like I thought.  Everyone's heard about the man, heard about his philosophy, heard about his political economy, but very few, if any have read him, in translation, let alone in the German.  So, before you reconvene the House Un-American Activities Committee, and make this a federal case, read what we have to say.

How many of you know about the Second Law of Thermodynamics?  Entropy? Ha!

By the way, did you know there is always a third way?

Hi,

Did you know that banks have been foreclosing on homeowners, in default, without physical evidence of the mortgage?  Did you know that this has been going on for decades?  Do you know why?  If not, you might be interested in today's post, "Robbing Peter to Paul".

"Tell a friend."

Hi,

A day late and a dollar short, and speaking of dollars we have a short analysis of the current government remedy to fix the economy on, "Ticked, Peeved, and otherwise POed.

You may want to assess the policies of the leading candidates. Bob and Loretta have at, http://maximumbl.wordpress.com.

Thank you for reading us at pOetis.

Hi,

New week, same disclaimer, lots of ideas. Check out, "Maximum Bob and Loretta,"  http://maximumbl.wordpress.com. ,for their scintillating conversation on the Obama Ronald Reagan quotes.

We will be resurrecting, for this week, our serial, placed on hiatus, to pursue our discussion on genocide, "Codicil for Deputy Cohen." Look for it tomorrow.

And, of course, we will return to our discussion on the subprime meltdown, and, "A Conversation With General Butler."

Thank you for reading, inspite of the trackbacks.

Hi,

Well, just as promised we have posted the introduction to new serial, "Introducing the Joads--You--"

We propose to chase the philosophy behind the subprime debacle, finding out where the money's hidden.

Next week, we will tackle the philosophy since economics is really a philosophy, first and foremost, no matter how much economists throw pure mathematics at it.

Hi,

Remember the 1970s? Remember how it was called a recession because the banking system did not bottom, but the manufacturing sector of the economy did? Remember the lines for gas, alternating days, remember the cost of meat, milk, eggs?  Well, the banks are hemorraging, and the, "recession," is coming, but...

I just wanted to mention a new series, beginning tomorrow, 1/17,entitled:

"The Grapes of Wrath: Introducing the Joads--You." This will, after repeated requests, various threats and admonishments, concern the subprime catastrophe, and what it means, and, you guessed it, the history behind our current economic reversal.  These will be short essays because this subject is labyrinthian, and the only way to deal with it is in bite sized pieces.  Excuse the mixed metaphor.

We also want to welcome back, from hiatus, "A Conversation With General Smedley," and that will begin on Friday, this week 1/18. And, of course, http://maximumbl.wordpress.com.  posted today. The subject:  race and class and primaries

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that my mom and dad have started their blog, but you won't find it here. its on Word Press, and its http://maximumbl.wordpress.com. They will be following the up and down fortunes of the presidential candidates, and anything else that strikes their fancy, and they would like it fine if you would give them a look-see.

Also, I want to take this opportunity to say that when we finish our discussion on genocide we will return to our conversation with General Smedley as that story is pertinent to the presidential election cycle, so we hope you will join us for that.

In the meantime, though, thank you for reading us at pOetis.
